raquel vermunt - work in progress
2026, netherlands, 16mm, no dialogue

Situated in the Biesbosch, where Raquel Vermunt lives, the film follows a small ferry crossing the river throughout the year, endlessly moving between two shores. Composed of a series of locked-off, carefully framed shots, the camera observes the passengers: some silently contemplating the landscape, others slowly waking inside the warmth of their cars. As the mist, water, and whispers accompany the ferry and its temporary community, an atmosphere in which time seems to stretch and mystery gradually unfolds.

This work in progress was commissioned by Field Recordings 6. The screening will be accompanied by a conversation with Raquel Vermunt about her working process and this latest piece.
