Chloé Aïcha Boro
Chloé Aïcha Boro is a Franco-Burkinabé writer and filmmaker. She studied modern literature, and prior to becoming a film director, worked as a journalist for newspapers, radio and television. Her novel "Paroles d'orpheline" was published by L'Harmattan. From 2012 she began working as a documentary film director, concerned with cultural conflicts permeating her country of origin, Burkina Faso, and diasporic African identities. Portraying the complex lives of communities, her films explore themes of cultural heritage, social change and the legacies of colonialism as seen through personal narratives. Her first three feature films were made independently, without financial or institutional support; “Al Djanat” is her fourth film. She is currently developing her first fiction feature film. She has presented her work at Visions du Réel, DOC NYC, MajorDocs and Quibdó África Film Festival.
