In the City of Poets, photos from the director’s family album tell a story of a semi-utopian, metaphorical city, where all the streets are named after poets. When a war breaks out, new neighbourhoods emerge to accommodate refugees and the streets are renamed to commemorate fallen soldiers. Abrupt upheavals lead to confusion among the city's residents, who find themselves lost amid the memories of the forgotten poets. Amongst them is the filmmaker’s mother, whose house is on one of these streets.
