Ivana Mladenović - Shorts
This programme brings together rarely screened early documentary short films by Ivana Mladenović, observing life on the margins of contemporary Romanian and Serbian societies. Made with a DIY ethos and intimate camerawork, the films offer a glimpse into spaces that rarely feature on screen: Mladenović's home village on the Serbian periphery (In the Village), a school for visually impaired children (Biology Class), and a boxing gym on the outskirts of Bucharest (Leaves of Grass). Marked by the vulnerability of early practice, these films reveal a curiosity about the world and an experimental spirit that would come to define Mladenović's filmmaking.
