From the slow emergence of ancient landforms in Archipelago of Earthen Bones –– To Bunya to the rapid glacier thawing in melt morphemes (supraglacial), the works gathered in this programme investigate the various timescales of Earth’s formation and exploitation. Environmental destruction as a result of colonialism in Where Russia Ends, depicted through previously unknown 1980s Soviet film materials, is echoed in the internet-sourced Green Gray Black Brown, which dives into the gory petro-capitalist realm of the 21st century. The ambivalence of pursuing life in the face of destruction, and the desire to find radical tools for survival as collective bodies, drive Extra Life (and Decay), a film celebrating the multitude and the opaque.
